Our last planned Thoroughbred foal was born early this morning. It was a cool spring morning when we heard a familiar sound coming from the broodmare barn. Our newest staff member, Alisha O'malley, was headed into the barn to lead the mares out to the pastures when Star Moment's groan echoed through the barn. Concerned, Alisha walked through the barn towards Star's stall as another groan echoed. Seeing the site of the foal's hooves peeking out of the mare, Alisha hurried to call Dr. Rowley and myself.
Quickly, we all made our way out to the barn to watch as hopefully a new star would be born. Her delivery, though long, went well. There were no complications and before we knew it, a little foal was welcomed into the world by its mother. It was a quick foal, a hungry foal! One of the fastest foals we have seen in quite a while to get to its feet and begin nursing. It was doing so well that by the end of the day, we were able to take the foal and Star Moment out to their own private paddock to stretch their legs.
The foal is a lovely buckskin filly name QMR Golden Ruler; sired by HPS Graphite. She is strong looking foal and will be going to her new home with Alisha Brearly before we know it. For now, the two are enjoying their time together!

We also had a surprise foaling by Sky Spirit, our dun Kiger Mustang filly the other day. The sire is Strix Strum. Both are fine Mustangs and have brought forth another fine little foal. It is a Red Dun Colt whose name we are still debating. This foal will be going to our good friend, Rue Ridge once he is old enough.
