Meanwhile, out in the mare and foals pasture, the foals were enjoying themselves by exploring their new pasture. The wide open pasture gave them the space to really stretch their legs while their dams grazed and took in the sunshine.
QMR Dark Matter and QMR Cleopatra's Back burned some energy by racing through the tall grass along the fence line, ignoring their dams' calls not to venture too far. These too had outgrown their wobbly legs and desire to stay close to mom; now they ran as fast as they could wherever they went. Holding them back became a real chore, as our stable hands had found as they bring them to and from the stables. We shouldn't be surprised though, given their parents. Their long legs are growing stronger by the day!

QMR Longines took the day in stride, watching the two race around. He kept a watchful eye on his favorite filly, QMR Little Liar, that is, until she gave him the slip. When he turned his head for just a moment as Dark Matter and Cleopatra ran by, Little Liar disappeared. Longines took a moment to look around before calling to her and wandering around to find her. His calls were noticed by one of the stable hands who realized why he was upset. Even her dam, Little White Lie showed some concern and began to call out to her. None of the calls were answered. "Should we call Cheyenne?" the young stable hand asked the grounds keeper, David; who was working nearby. "No. I reckon we give her a few more minutes to answer before worrying them." He answered with his southern accent. The two watched intent as the search continued. Then, Longines was quiet, standing still once again. He had found her. She had laid down for a nap among some tall grass. The little filly was so tired, she didn't even hear the commotion she had caused.
